Chapter 3: Page 11
Awkward…
If you missed the announcement last week, you can have a read about the comic’s upcoming break here: link
EDIT March 29: As you may have seen on Facebook and Twitter, today’s page is going to be late. I was all ahead of the game and then got a bad flu which terminated both my travel plans and all work on the comic. To top it off, the transition from winter to spring in this part of Canada is turbulent and is really influencing my migraines this year. There will be one more page before we go to hiatus, though, I promise! Keep watch for it on Facebook, Twitter, tumblr, Piperka, Comic Rocket… whatever you like to use to follow Stray Sod! I will also be posting a first look at Issue 2’s print cover, so look for that, too. 🙂
I love all the discussion about this page. I’ve been waiting for this reveal for a long time, and now you’ve got me anticipating the future reveal that answers your new questions!
VOTE for the comic (no preview this week).
OMG, serious business…..
I have a feeling that she is just surprised, but not upset by his words. Plus, she, being a sceptic and hypocrit would not believe him and maybe mock him – like why would he even try to seduce her since she doesnt consider herself pretty enough.
“… and you dun e’en wanna know what happens if we make love tae ya lass.”
*he said with a chuckle, hiding his copy of “Darkfever” behind his back*
I’m betting that, somewhere along the way, he’ll have to touch her to save her from danger.
Well, yeah. Not going to introduce a bomb like that – then ignore it. 😉
He looks so sad about poisoning any woman he touches… but wait! In chapter one, he went to take Ina’s hand, and skin contact was only avoided because she freaked and ran away. He tried to fatally poison her! Nasty!

Daaaang… Well, Ina may not think much of herself and Laisrén may doubt her ability to survive among fairies, but she sure as hell proved she has a healthy self-preservation instinct.
I dunno, maybe he planned to do a little matchmaking? Got a guy picked out for her already? I’m being hopeful because I like him faaaaaaar too much 😛 Doesn’t take skin contact to get the dread fangirl genes to kick in, I’m afraid.
Ummm…. “It’s my skin that carries the toxin. It is ultimately fatal.” See current page. In this one instance, skin contact DOES elicit a fangirl response.
Laisrén’s my favourite character too, but he was pretty nasty when the comic started out. It’s nice to see that he’s looking out for Ina now, and even trying to help her feel better about herself, but I think it would be a mistake to just forget that he tried to kill her when they met.
On that note, I wonder what he gets out of killing women? There must be something, perhaps something intrinsic to his survival, since he doesn’t seem to enjoy it. I can’t remember the exact details of the deal Ina made with him; hopefully it included not harming Jienny either, or Ina may be wasting her time.
Umm I don’t think he was trying to kill her. “They die of want of me” is what he said. I think he was trying to take her away. Fae males a pretty prevalently known for doing that with pretty young girls.
That’s a good point that I hadn’t thought of. Now I *really* want to know what Laisrén gets out of making human women love him, if only to know how likely that scenario is. But still; I don’t think kidnapping Ina and making her addicted to him is all that much better than straight out killing her.
Point. You also raise some interesting ideas about why this type (species? subspecies?) of fae exists at all.
